- 1 large onion sliced
- 1 tablespoon peanuts
- 2 medium tomatoes chopped
- 2 red chillies
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 5-6 garlic cloves
- to taste Salt
- leaves Few Coriander stems or
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
- 2 tablespoon curd
- 1 teaspoon kasuri methi
Steps to make to make Masaledar Karela
- Wash, cut and remove seeds from the karela. Apply some salt and keep aside.
- Roast onion, peanuts,red chillies, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, garlic (half of the mentioned) together and let it cool. Add this mixture along with some coriander stems and tomatoes and grind into fine paste.
- In a pan heat oil. Add garlic cloves and the paste. Saute well and add all the remaining spices, salt and curd. Squeeze out any water from the karelas and add them to the gravy.
- Add some water and cover and cook the karelas well till you feel they are soft. Garnish with some kasuri methi and Serve this delicious karela bhaaji with roti or bhaakris.
