Ingredients and spices that need to be Prepare to make Rasam:
- 2 medium sized Tomatoes chopped
- 1-1.5 cup Tamarind water (Soak a big dollop of tamarind)
- as per taste Salt
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 Tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp Ghee
- as required Chopped Cilantro
- For Dry Roasted Masala Powder
- 1 Tsp Toor Dal/ Arhar Dal / Rahar Dal/ Pigeon Pea
- 1 Tsp Cummin seeds
- 1 Tsp Coriander seeds
- 1 Tsp Pepper
- 1/2 Tsp Hing powder or small marble Hing
- as needed few curry leaves
Steps to make to make Rasam
- Soak imli/ tamarind first for tamarind water. Prepare and collect other ingredients. Dry roast and Powder the roasted spices.
- Now in kadhai, add and heat ghee add mustard seeds, when it splutters add chopped tomatoes, stir and add imli water,haldi,salt. Let it boil slowly till the raw smell goes and tomato gets cooked.
- Now add the dry roasted powdered spices, add 1 cup water and boil on high flame once,put off and add chopped coriander leaves. Enjoy !
